The Old Me"

As it is with most addicts, I've lost everything.

Money, cars, houses, jobs etc... Addiction took my friends, family,

morals and dignity. It took my son and my freedom. During my addiction I lost my ability of making

any kind of good decisions, every choice led to numbing the pain inside. However possible, by any

means necessary. Lie, cheat, steal…..adding to my despair, fueling the need to drown my guilty conscience.

I tried short stays in rehabs. But soon I was in and out of county jail, then spent years in prison. Out on

parole for maybe a year, only to repeat the cycle. Long enough to regain some of the things I've lost,

just to lose them again. The people who were assigned to help me wouldn’t, and nobody really seemed

to care. Life once again started to look bleak, and I felt another insane cycle coming on.

  "The New Me"

I was desperately broke, in a Halfway house and trying everything I could to get it right this time. Walking miles

to put in applications, calling every factory, temp agency and construction outfit looking for work. A buddy

recommended I call Richard. He was doing some work for Rich, and he may have some odd jobs for me.

Knowing nothing about me, except that I'm a criminal and in a halfway house, he and his wife gave me work.

They also treated me like an old friend, which really helped regain my dignity and self-respect. It also

turned out that Richard and his wife Josie run a program. A fantastic program called, "The New Me". They've helped me and many others in so many ways. Donations, job placement, housing, childcare, food, and clothes.

They are supportive and care for others. Taking time out of their hectic days and cater to others. Thanks to them,

I now work fulltime as a Maintenance Technician at a thriving factory, a job Richard got me. I also work

for "The New Me Program" as a Maintenance and Handy Man. I live with my beautiful Fiancé, her daughter and I

got my son back. We live in a rental house provided by them. They are helping me with leads for jobs and

so much more....I’m so thankful, none of this would be possible without "The New Me".
